Biological Activity

Description γ-Terpinene (γ-TPN), a monoterpene, is an orally active antioxidant compound which can scavenge radicals directly.,
In vitro
In vitro

γ-Terpinene(0 to 45 μM) protects DNA against 2,20-azobis(2-amidinopropane hydrochloride)(AAPH)-induced oxidative damage in erythrocytes. But γ-Terpinene accelerates hemolysis when the concentration exceeds 45 μM.[1]

Cell Research Cell lines Human erythrocytes
Concentrations 0-300 μM
Incubation Time 0-700 min
Method

AAPH and erythrocytes are mixed in PBSa to a final concentration at 20 mM and 3.0% (v/v), respectively, to which various concentrations of γ-Terpinene are added. The above mixture is incubated to initiate hemolysis. Aliquots (1.5 mL) are taken out at appropriate intervals and centrifuged at 1700g to obtain the supernatant. The absorbance of the supernatant is measured and plotted versus the reaction time.

In Vivo
In vivo

γ-Terpinene given either systemically (p.o.; 1.56, 3.125, and 6.25 mg/kg) or centrally (i.t or i.c.v; 10 and 20 μg/site) causes significant inhibition of glutamate-induced nociception in mice.[2]

Animal Research Animal Models Chemical nociception model mice(male; Swiss)
Dosages 1.56 mg/kg, 3.125 mg/kg, 6.25 mg/kg
Administration p.o, i.t, i.c.v

Method for preparing DMSO master liquid: mg drug pre-dissolved in μL DMSO ( Master liquid concentration mg/mL, Please contact us first if the concentration exceeds the DMSO solubility of the batch of drug. )

Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take μL DMSO master liquid, next addμL PEG300, mix and clarify, next addμL Tween 80, mix and clarify, next add μL ddH2O, mix and clarify.

Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take μL DMSO master liquid, next add μL Corn oil, mix and clarify.

Note: 1. Please make sure the liquid is clear before adding the next solvent.
2. Be sure to add the solvent(s) in order. You must ensure that the solution obtained, in the previous addition, is a clear solution before proceeding to add the next solvent. Physical methods such
as vortex, ultrasound or hot water bath can be used to aid dissolving.
