Thymol inhibits LPS-induced TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β production in BALF. Furthermore, this compound significantly reduces the MPO activity, MDA content, lung wet/dry weight ratio and histopathological changes induced by LPS. In addition, it inhibits LPS-induced NF-κB signaling pathway and up-regulates the expression of Nrf2 and HO-1.
