In vitro

SMIFH2 inhibits stress fiber contractility in living and permeabilized REF52 cells. This compound inhibits centripetal movement of myosin 2 filaments in living and permeabilized HFF cells. It inhibits activity of myosin ATPase and the ability to translocate actin filaments in the gliding actin.

In vivo

SMIFH2 induces tail curvature and peripheral cell death, craniofacial malformations, pericardial edema in developing zebrafish embryos. This compound impairs vascular flow and impacts heart rates in developing zebrafish embryos.
