Description Ciprofloxacin (CPX, Cetraxal, Ciloxan, Cipro, Bay-09867) hydrochloride, a fluorinated quinolone, is a β-diketone antibiotic with a broad spectrum antibacterial activity. Ciprofloxacin is an inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase (a subclass of Type II topoisomerases).
