Biological Activity

Description 3,4',5-Trimethoxy-trans-stilbene (MR-3) is a methylated derivative of resveratrol and shows more potent inhibitory effects on the growth of human cancer cells (HT-29, PC-3, COLO 205) with IC50 values of 81.31, 42.71 and 6.25 μM, respectively.
In vitro
In vitro Treatment with MR-3 at different concentrations ranging from 0 to 10 μM exhibits no cytotoxic effects on the A549 cells. MR-3 inhibits adhesion, migration, and invasion of A549 cells. The anti-invasive effects of MR-3 on A549 cells are likely mediated through the inhibition of phosphorylation of JNK and p38, as well as a reduction in the protein levels of nuclear factorkappa B (NF-kB) and activator protein-1 (AP-1) in the nucleus, ultimately leading to downregulation of MMP-2 expression[1].
