Ditiocarb sodium (Sodium diethyldithiocarbamate) is an orally active copper chelating agent that reacts with Cu2+ ions to form a complex of copper diethyldithiocarbamate, which enhances the rate of cementation. It also exhibits antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties and reduces the incidence of opportunistic infections in patients with symptomatic HIV infection.
