In vitro

Vitexin promotes cell viability, inhibits apoptosis, and decreases inflammatory cytokines. These protective effects are related to the regulation of ER stress by vitexin in chondrocytes[2].

In vivo Vitexin ameliorates sexual dysfunction and fertility impairments in male diabetic mice possibly by modulating the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis[1].

  • Method:

    Chondrocytes (2 × 105 cells) were planted in a 96-well plate and treated with various doses of vitexin, with or without IL-1β (10 ng/mL), for 1 day according to the requirements of the experiment. All of the chondrocytes were incubated for 2 h with cholecystokinin octapeptide (CCK-8) (10 µL) and the absorbance of the reaction at 450 nm was then quantified using a micro-plate reader.
