12.1 Toxicity
1-Piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-'s production and use as a research chemical may result in its release to the environment through various waste streams. If released to air, an estimated vapor pressure of 1.0X10-7 mm Hg at 25 °C indicates 1-piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl- will exist in both the vapor and particulate phases in the atmosphere. Vapor-phase 1-piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl- will be degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals; the half-life for this reaction in air is estimated to be 9 hours. Particulate-phase 1-piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl- will be removed from the atmosphere by wet or dry deposition. 1-Piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl- absorbs light at wavelengths >290 nm, and therefore may be susceptible to direct photolysis by sunlight. If released to soil, 1-piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl- is expected to have very high mobility based upon an estimated Koc of 40. Volatilization from moist soil surfaces is not expected to be an important fate process based upon an estimated Henry's Law constant of 3.0X10-15 atm-cu m/mole. Biodegradation data in soil or water were not available. If released into water, 1-piperidinyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl- is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment based upon the estimated Koc. Volatilization from water surfaces is not expected to be an important fate process based upon this compound's estima

12.4 Mobility in soil
No data available.

12.5 Results of PBT and vPvB assessment
PBT/vPvB assessment not available.
