Tempol (4-Hydroxy-TEMPO) is a membrane-permeable superoxide dismutase mimetic and nitroxide antioxidant that acts as a superoxide scavenger. By promoting the dismutation of superoxide radicals and limiting reactive oxygen species accumulation, Tempol suppresses oxidative stress signaling and NF-kB activation. Downstream, it attenuates pro-inflammatory mediator production, reduces cellular lipid peroxidation, and confers neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic phenotypes in model systems. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
