4.1 Description of first aid measures
Inhalation: INHALATION: IMMEDIATELY leave the contaminated area; take deep breaths of fresh air. IMMEDIATELY call a physician and be prepared to transport the victim to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, or burning in the mouth, throat, or chest) develop. Provide proper respiratory protection to rescuers entering an unknown atmosphere. Whenever possible, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) should be used; if not available, use a level of protection greater
Skin contact: SKIN: IMMEDIATELY flood affected skin with water while removing and isolating all contaminated clothing. Gently wash all affected skin areas thoroughly with soap and water. If symptoms such as redness or irritation develop, IMMEDIATELY call a physician and be prepared to transport the victim to a hospital for treatment.
Eye contact: EYES: First check the victim for contact lenses and remove if present. Flush victim's eyes with water or normal saline solution for 20 to 30 minutes while simultaneously calling a hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in the victim's eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim after flushing eyes to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop.
Ingestion: INGESTION: DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. If the victim is conscious and not convulsing, give 1 or 2 glasses of water to dilute the chemical and IMMEDIATELY call a hospital or poison control center. Be prepared to transport the victim to a hospital if advised by a physician. If the victim is convulsing or unconscious, do not give anything by mouth, ensure that the victim's airway is open and lay the victim on his/her side with the head lower than the body. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. IMMEDIATELY transport

Contain spill with inert absorbent material.

6.3 Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
SRP: Expired or waste pharmaceuticals shall carefully take into consideration applicable DEA, EPA, and FDA regulations. It is not appropriate to dispose by flushing the pharmaceutical down the toilet or discarding to trash. If possible return the pharmaceutical to the manufacturer for proper disposal being careful to properly label and securely package the material. Alternatively, the waste pharmaceutical shall be labeled, securely packaged and transported by a state licensed medical waste contractor to dispose by burial in a licensed hazardous or toxic waste landfill or incinerator.
SRP: At the time of review, regulatory criteria for small quantity disposal are subject to significant revision, however, household quantities of waste pharmaceuticals may be managed as follows: Mix with wet cat litter or coffee grounds, double bag in plastic, discard in trash.

7.1 Precautions for safe handling
SMALL SPILLS AND LEAKAGE: If a spill of this chemical occurs, FIRST REMOVE ALL SOURCES OF IGNITION, then you should dampen the solid spill material with acetone and transfer the dampened material to a suitable container. Use absorbent paper dampened with acetone to pick up any remaining material. Seal your contaminated clothing and the absorbent paper in a vapor-tight plastic bag for eventual disposal. Solvent wash all contaminated surfaces with acetone followed by washing with a soap and water solution. Do not reenter the contaminated area until the Safety Officer (or other responsible person) has verified that the area has been properly cleaned.
STORAGE PRECAUTIONS: You should protect this material from exposure to light, and store it in a refrigerator. (NTP, 1992)
Parenteral progesterone preparations, progesterone capsules, progesterone vaginal inserts, and progesterone vaginal gel should be stored at 15-30 °C.

7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Parenteral progesterone preparations, progesterone capsules, progesterone vaginal inserts, and progesterone vaginal gel should be stored at 15-30 °C.
Store away from incompatible materials (see Section 10).

12.1 Toxicity
EC50; Species: Strongylocentrotus purpuratus (Purple Sea Urchin, age 1 hr postfertilization embryo); Conditions: saltwater, static, 17 °C; Concentration: 546.6 ug/L for 95 hr (95% confidence interval: 363.1-745.9 ug/L); Effect: increased abnormal development /100% purity/
Progesterone's production and use as an oral contraceptive and lab reagent may result in its release to the environment through various waste streams. Progesterone is the mammalian female sex hormone secreted by the corpus luteum, by the adrenal cortex, or by the placenta during pregnancy. If released to air, an estimated vapor pressure of 3.6X10-4 mm Hg at 25 °C indicates progesterone will exist in both the vapor and particulate phases in the atmosphere. Vapor-phase progesterone will be degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals; the half-life for this reaction in air is estimated to be 1.2 hours. Particulate-phase progesterone will be removed from the atmosphere by wet or dry deposition. Progesterone absorbs light at wavelengths of >290 nm, and therefore may be susceptible to direct photolysis by sunlight. If released to soil, progesterone is expected to have slight mobility based upon an estimated Koc of 2,800. Volatilization from moist soil surfaces is not expected to be an important fate process based upon an estimated Henry's Law constant of 6.5X10-8 atm-cu m/mole. Biodegradation data were not available. If released into water, progesterone is expected to ads
