Biological Activity

Celecoxib is a selective inhibitor of COX-2 (IC50 = with selectivity over COX-1 (IC50 =. By selectively targeting the COX-2 enzyme, celecoxib blocks the conversion of arachidonic acid to downstream prostaglandins, thereby inhibiting inflammatory prostaglandin production. This blockade of COX-2 signaling suppresses inflammatory responses and inhibits cell proliferation in COX-2-expressing cellular models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
