Biological Activity

PD-166866 is a potent and selective inhibitor of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) that effectively suppresses FGFR1 autophosphorylation and receptor tyrosine kinase activity. By inhibiting FGFR1 signaling, PD-166866 disrupts downstream intracellular signaling pathways, including the MAPK/ERK pathway, ultimately leading to the inhibition of cell proliferation, endothelial cell migration, and vascular angiogenesis.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
