Ixabepilone is a synthetic epothilone B analog that functions as a microtubule-stabilizing agent targeting tubulin. Upon binding to tubulin, it promotes microtubule polymerization and enhances structural stability, thereby disrupting mitotic spindle assembly. This inhibition disrupts normal cell division by arresting cells in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle, ultimately triggering downstream signaling pathways that induce apoptotic cell death in cancer cell lines. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
