Biological Activity

Etoricoxib is a potent and highly selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). By inhibiting COX-2, it suppresses the conversion of arachidonic acid into pro-inflammatory prostaglandins, leading to reduced inflammatory responses, pain, and fever. In addition to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic actions, COX-2 inhibition by etoricoxib modulates downstream cellular pathways to exert potential antineoplastic activities in preclinical cancer models. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
