Cisplatin is an inorganic platinum complex that functions as a DNA synthesis inhibitor by binding DNA and forming intra- and interstrand covalent adducts in tumor cells. These platinum-DNA crosslinks block normal DNA replication and transcription, ultimately triggering signaling cascades that lead to apoptosis. In addition to apoptotic signaling, cisplatin treatment activates ferroptosis and induces autophagy to modulate cancer cell survival and death responses. [1][2]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
