Rivaroxaban is an oral, direct Factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor that targets human FXa with a Ki of 0.4 nM and an IC50 of, exhibiting over 10,000-fold selectivity over other human serine proteases. By selectively binding free and clot-bound FXa within the prothrombinase complex, it suppresses prothrombin conversion to thrombin and downstream thrombin generation. Consequently, this inhibition prevents fibrin formation, platelet activation, and blood coagulation. [1]
