Rifaximin is an orally active, non-systemic antibiotic that acts as a bacterial RNA synthesis inhibitor by binding to the β subunit of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. By inhibiting the activity of RNA polymerase, rifaximin blocks bacterial transcription and prevents RNA chain elongation. This blockade disrupts bacterial protein synthesis, ultimately leading to the inhibition of bacterial cell growth and proliferation localized predominantly to the gastrointestinal tract. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
