Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that acts as an inhibitor of bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to essential penicillin-binding proteins, particularly PBP3 in Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, thereby blocking the final transpeptidation step required for peptidoglycan cross-linking. This mechanism disrupts bacterial cell division and cell wall structural integrity, ultimately leading to filamentation, osmotic instability, and bacterial cell lysis. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
