Etanercept is a dimeric recombinant fusion protein that functions as a TNF inhibitor by binding to tumor necrosis factor (TNF). It competitively blocks the interaction of both TNF-α and TNF-β with cell surface TNF receptors, preventing downstream receptor activation. By neutralizing TNF signaling, Etanercept suppresses NF-κB-mediated inflammatory responses and attenuates pro-inflammatory cytokine cascades. [1]
