Biological Activity

WZB117 is a small-molecule inhibitor of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1). By blocking GLUT1-mediated glucose transport, it downregulates glycolytic metabolism and lowers intracellular ATP levels, which triggers cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Consequently, WZB117 inhibits cell proliferation in lung cancer A549 cells and breast cancer MCF7 cells with an IC50 of approximately 10 μM.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
