Biological Activity

Vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside is a natural flavonoid compound derived from Hawthorn leaves with potent antioxidant and cardioprotective activities. It attenuates cellular oxidative stress by scavenging reactive oxygen species and modulating key survival signaling pathways, including Nrf2/HO-1 and NF-kB. In cardiovascular cellular models, Vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside inhibits apoptosis, preserves mitochondrial membrane potential, and protects cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells against hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced injury. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
