Vildagliptin is a potent dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that selectively blocks DPP-4 enzymatic cleavage to prevent the rapid degradation of incretin peptides, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide. By stabilizing active incretin levels, vildagliptin enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, and improves beta-cell function and glucose homeostasis in preclinical diabetes models. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
