Tubastatin A is a potent and selective histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) inhibitor (IC50 15 nM). It displays over 1000-fold selectivity against all other HDAC isozymes, with the exception of HDAC8 for which it exhibits 57-fold selectivity. Selective inhibition of HDAC6 by Tubastatin A induces α-tubulin hyperacetylation, disrupts aggresome processing pathways, promotes autophagy, and increases apoptosis in treated cell populations. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
