Biological Activity
Triolein is a triglyceride compound that acts as an inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1). In irradiated keratinocytes, triolein attenuates cellular oxidative stress by decreasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and suppressing the expression of the inflammatory cytokine IL-6. These combined cellular actions mitigate extracellular matrix degradation and photoaging-associated inflammatory responses in cutaneous tissue. [1]
