Torcetrapib (CP-529414) is a potent inhibitor of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP). By inhibiting CETP, it prevents the transfer of cholesteryl esters from high-density lipoproteins (HDL) to low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), thereby increasing plasma HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, torcetrapib induces off-target pressor effects, causing acute increases in blood pressure and plasma adrenal steroid concentrations independently of CETP inhibition. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
