Tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) is an antioxidant compound and activator of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway. Activation of Nrf2 by TBHQ promotes the nuclear translocation of Nrf2, inducing the expression of antioxidant response element (ARE)-driven cytoprotective genes. This pathway activation suppresses intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation and lipid peroxidation, ultimately protecting cells against oxidative stress-induced cytotoxicity. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
