Sulfamethazine (Sulfadimidine) is a sulfonamide antibacterial agent that targets bacterial dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS). By competing with p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), it disrupts the folic acid biosynthesis pathway, which is essential for purine, pyrimidine, and amino acid production. Consequently, this inhibition suppresses bacterial nucleic acid synthesis, impairing cell growth and proliferation in various susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
