Biological Activity

Suberohydroxamic acid (suberic bishydroxamic acid) is a competitive histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor targeting HDAC1 and HDAC3. By directly blocking enzymatic activity, it increases global histone hyperacetylation within target cells, leading to altered chromatin structure and transcriptional regulation. These downstream cellular responses disrupt normal cell cycle progression, promote cell cycle arrest, and effectively suppress cell growth and proliferation in transformed cancer cell models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
