Biological Activity

SRI-011381 (C381) is a small-molecule agonist of the TGF-β signaling pathway designed for neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. The compound physically targets lysosomes to promote lysosomal acidification, enhancing the breakdown of lysosomal cargo and improving lysosomal resilience against cellular damage. Activation of TGF-β signaling promotes microglial function and facilitates amyloid-β clearance, contributing to neuroprotective outcomes in preclinical models of neurodegeneration. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
