Sphingosine is a primary sphingolipid backbone amino alcohol and endogenously active cell-signaling lipid that acts as an inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC). Phosphorylation of sphingosine by sphingosine kinase converts it into sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), regulating the balance between apoptosis and cell survival. Alterations in intracellular sphingosine levels influence PKC signaling, ceramide-mediated signaling cascades, cell cycle arrest, and apoptotic responses in various cell types. [1][2]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
