Biological Activity
Sodium succinate is a key metabolic intermediate in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and serves as an endogenous agonist for the succinate receptor 1 (SUCNR1/GPR91). It acts as a substrate for mitochondrial complex II (succinate dehydrogenase), driving electron transport, ATP production, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Through SUCNR1 activation and metabolic signaling, succinate modulates cellular energy homeostasis, inflammatory responses, and paracrine signaling cascades. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
