Biological Activity

Semaglutide Sodium is a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue that functions as a potent GLP-1 receptor agonist. Selective binding to and activation of the GLP-1 receptor enhances intracellular cAMP signaling, which stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells while inhibiting glucagon release from alpha cells. Furthermore, GLP-1 receptor activation slows gastric emptying and promotes satiety, contributing to overall regulation of metabolic homeostasis. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
