Scopoletin is a natural coumarin derivative and bioactive constituent that exhibits anti-inflammatory, hypouricemic, and antioxidant activities. It modulates inflammatory responses by inhibiting the NF-kB pathway and suppressing the production of proinflammatory mediators, including TNF-α, IL-6, and nitric oxide. Additionally, scopoletin reduces oxidative stress and xanthine oxidase activity, leading to attenuated hyperuricemic phenotypes and suppressed tissue inflammation in pre-clinical models. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
