Biological Activity

SCH-23390 hydrochloride is a potent and selective dopamine D1-like receptor antagonist targeting D1 and D5 receptors, while also acting as a high-efficacy 5-HT2C receptor agonist and a direct inhibitor of G protein-coupled inwardly rectifying potassium (GIRK) channels. By blocking D1-like receptor signaling and activating 5-HT2C receptors, SCH-23390 hydrochloride modulates dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission pathways, altering intracellular cyclic AMP accumulation and regulating neuronal excitability. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
