Biological Activity

SB273005 is a potent nonpeptide integrin antagonist that targets αvβ3 receptor and αvβ5 receptor. By inhibiting these vitronectin receptors, SB273005 disrupts cell adhesion and cell migration pathways, leading to suppressed osteoclast activity and inhibition of bone resorption. Additionally, blockade of αvβ3 and αvβ5 signaling attenuates extracellular matrix interactions necessary for vascular cell survival and angiogenesis. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
