SB-334867 is a selective orexin receptor 1 (OX1) antagonist. By selectively blocking OX1 receptor signaling, SB-334867 inhibits orexin-A-induced intracellular calcium mobilization and modulates neuropeptidergic pathways involved in food intake, sleep-wake regulation, and reward-seeking behaviors. In preclinical models, inhibition of OX1 receptor activation by SB-334867 reduces compulsive drug-seeking behavior and attenuates feeding responses driven by orexinergic signaling. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
