Biological Activity

Saroglitazar is a dual peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) agonist that targets hPPARα (EC50 0.65 pM) and hPPARγ (EC50 3 nM). Activation of PPARα and PPARγ regulates lipid metabolism and glucose homeostasis by modulating fatty acid oxidation and insulin sensitivity. In preclinical models, saroglitazar effectively lowers plasma triglycerides, free fatty acids, and glucose levels, demonstrating therapeutic potential for diabetic dyslipidemia and metabolic disorders.

Solvent Solubility & Note
FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
