Biological Activity

Promazine hydrochloride is a phenothiazine-class antagonist targeting dopamine D1, D2, and D4 receptors, serotonin 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptors, muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (M1–M5), alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, and histamine H1 receptors. By blocking these neuroreceptors, it modulates dopaminergic, serotonergic, and cholinergic signaling pathways, leading to altered neurotransmitter-mediated downstream responses and cellular signaling events involved in central nervous system function.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
