Pranoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor. By suppressing COX activity, it inhibits the biosynthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid, reducing pro-inflammatory mediator production. This inhibition suppresses downstream inflammatory cascades, resulting in decreased vascular permeability, attenuated tissue swelling, and reduced pain responses in ocular and peripheral inflammatory models.
