Biological Activity

Pramipexole dihydrochloride is a non-ergoline dopamine agonist that potently targets the D3 receptor, D2L receptor, D2S receptor, and D4 receptor. By activating presynaptic and postsynaptic dopamine receptor pathways, it modulates dopaminergic neurotransmission and inhibits intracellular cyclic AMP accumulation. This agonist activity restores striatal dopaminergic signaling and reduces neurotoxin-induced motor deficits in rodent models of dopaminergic dysfunction. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
