PMX-53 is a potent antagonist of the complement C5a receptor CD88 and an agonist of the Mas-related gene 2 (MrgX2) receptor. By blocking C5a binding to CD88, PMX-53 attenuates downstream C5a-mediated complement signaling pathways, leading to the inhibition of neutrophil activation, myeloperoxidase release, and cellular chemotaxis. These inhibitory actions suppress inflammatory responses and reduce tissue damage in preclinical models of acute and chronic inflammation. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
