Biological Activity

Plerixafor 8HCl is a potent CXCR4 chemokine receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the interaction between CXCR4 and its primary ligand CXCL12 (SDF-1). By inhibiting CXCR4 activation, it disrupts downstream signaling cascades, including CXCL12-induced intracellular calcium mobilization and chemotaxis. Consequently, this antagonist prevents chemokine-directed cell migration, promotes hematopoietic stem cell mobilization, and enhances tissue repair and angiogenesis in animal models. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
