Biological Activity

Peramivir Trihydrate is a transition-state analogue and potent inhibitor of influenza viral neuraminidase. By target-specific inhibition of neuraminidase, it prevents the cleavage of terminal sialic acid residues, thereby blocking the release and dissemination of progeny virions from infected host cells. Preclinical evaluations demonstrate that peramivir exerts broad antiviral activity against seasonal and highly pathogenic influenza virus strains, enhancing survival and reducing viral loads in animal models.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
