Ornidazole is a synthetic 5-nitroimidazole derivative exhibiting potent antiprotozoal and antibacterial activities against anaerobic microorganisms. Upon entering susceptible cells, its nitro group undergoes metabolic reduction to form short-lived cytotoxic free-radical intermediates. These reactive species interact with microbial DNA to induce strand breakage, inhibit nucleic acid synthesis, and disrupt essential cellular functions, ultimately leading to pathogen cell death.

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
