Ordering Information

Biological Activity

NS-398 is a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) that exhibits anti-inflammatory and antineoplastic properties. By inhibiting COX-2 enzymatic activity, NS-398 blocks prostaglandin E2 biosynthesis and downregulates downstream inflammatory and pro-survival signaling cascades. Consequently, NS-398 suppresses cell proliferation, promotes apoptosis, and inhibits cell migration and angiogenesis across multiple preclinical inflammation and cancer models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
