Biological Activity

NPD8733 is a small-molecule inhibitor of cancer cell-enhanced fibroblast migration that specifically binds to valosin-containing protein (VCP)/p97, a member of the AAA+ ATPase family. By targeting VCP/p97, NPD8733 disrupts p97-mediated protein quality control and cellular homeostasis pathways. Consequently, this targeted inhibition suppresses cancer-stimulated stromal cell motility and reduces fibroblast migration within the tumor microenvironment, highlighting p97 as a key regulator of tumor-stroma interactions. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
