Biological Activity

NOTA is a hexadentate bifunctional chelating agent designed for stably coordinating radiometals, particularly gallium-68 and copper-64, in nuclear medicine applications. By forming thermodynamically stable and kinetically inert complexes with radioisotopes, NOTA enables the conjugation of targeting vectors for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and probe design. The resulting radiotracers facilitate high-resolution molecular imaging and signal amplification across various diagnostic radiopharmaceutical platforms.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
