Biological Activity

Noradrenaline bitartrate monohydrate is a potent adrenergic receptor agonist that targets α1-, α2-, and β1-adrenergic receptors. Stimulation of vascular α1-adrenergic receptors drives peripheral vasoconstriction, thereby increasing systemic vascular resistance and raising systolic and diastolic blood pressure. In parallel, activation of cardiac β1-adrenergic receptors induces a positive inotropic effect, enhancing myocardial contractility and stimulating coronary artery dilation.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
