Niflumic acid is an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and acts as a modulator of ion channels, including calcium-activated chloride channels and GABA receptors. By inhibiting COX-2 activity, it suppresses prostaglandin biosynthesis, thereby attenuating inflammatory cascades and downstream nociceptive signaling pathways. Additionally, its regulatory effects on chloride and GABA-gated channels modulate membrane potential and cellular excitability in neuronal and smooth muscle tissues. [1]
