Nicardipine HCl is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that targets L-type voltage-gated calcium channels. By inhibiting calcium ion influx across vascular smooth muscle cell membranes, it prevents smooth muscle contraction and promotes vasodilation. This blockade inhibits intracellular calcium-dependent signaling, resulting in reduced vascular resistance, systemic arterial pressure lowering, and improved vascular blood flow in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular models. - Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
